POKOTABI / Sekime Dancho
関目団長
Try the heat of Daifunka-men with a soft-boiled egg and an extra-spicy topping, or opt for Taiwan mazemen, remembered by one diner for its bold garlic flavour. Sekime Dancho also serves black soy sauce ramen, tsukemen and rice dishes.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
For a serious dose of heat, Daifunka-men is an eye-catching choice. One diner recalls ordering it with an extra soft-boiled egg and a “Magma” topping, and says the bowl stood out for more than its spiciness alone. The dish is rated ★10 for heat, and the menu also offers spicy toppings and soft-boiled eggs. Take on the heat as it comes, or add an egg and put together your own combination.
Taiwan mazemen offers a different sort of bowl. One diner who enjoyed it singled out its punchy garlic flavour. It may appeal when you want noodles to take centre stage rather than a bowl of ramen with broth. A small serving of mazemen is available, while mazemen and tsukemen can be ordered with a large noodle portion of up to 400g at the same price. Decide whether you’re in the mood to turn up the heat or settle in for a larger helping.
For something less focused on spice, there is black soy sauce ramen, seafood soba and niboshi ramen. A diner who tried the black soy sauce ramen commented on its robust soy sauce flavour and generous amount of vegetables. The menu lets you choose it with or without a soft-boiled egg, and in a small serving, making it easy to tailor a more classic bowl. Tsukemen is also available in a small serving, and diners can ask for soup to be added to the dipping broth. Round out the meal with gyoza or fried chicken, or choose white rice or Izumo egg-on-rice. There are options beyond noodles, too.
Sekime Dancho serves lunch and dinner and is closed on Thursdays. It does not accept reservations, so check the opening hours before setting out.
